Will a 5-1/2 Long U-Bolt Work With 6 Leaf Springs On a 3,500 Lb Axle
Updated 06/18/2021 | Published 06/16/2021 >
Question:
Hi, I need to replace my leaf springs on my 2006 wildwood fifth wheel. I have the measurements and have determined the springs and all parts I need. The only thing Im struggling with is finding a u-bolt kit that will fit my 2 3/8inch 3500lb axles. Adding two leaves makes it a little higher and I dont think the 5 1/2inch u bolts will work and everything else ive found is to wide in diameter. Im looking to get the 5300lb 6 leaf springs and just a standard equalizer and shackle kit. Im wondering if you know of any better options to work with adding 2 leaves to my suspension? Im looking to get the little bit of height plus a bit stiffer for when I pull my boat behind. Thank you!

The 2-3/8" Round Trailer U-Bolts part # SP01-040 should work with a 6 leaf spring stack. If you add the diameter of the axle which is 2-3/8" with the thickness of the leaf spring stack which is 2-1/4" and the thickness of the tie-down plate which is 3/16" this should still leave you room for enough thread engagement on nuts. The 5-1/2" long u-bolt is the longest we offer for a 2-3/8" diameter axle.
