Question:

Will this hitch fit a 2001 Ford F53 coachmen mirada motorhome? And is a hitch extension safe to use, or does it put undo stress on the hitch system?

I recommend a Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41990-07. This universal receiver will need to be welded on to fit your Coachmen Mirada and is designed to fit frames up to 44" wide. This Class V receiver is rated for up to 16,000lbs of trailer weight and 1,600lbs of tongue weight. Be sure to not exceed the trailer capacities given by Ford for your specific chassis.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15445 is not confirmed to be a fit for your 2001 Ford F-53 chassis on your Coachmen Mirada.

A Draw-Tite Hitch Extender # HE18 can be used but it will reduce your towing capacity by 50%, with the maximum capacity being 350lbs of tongue weight and 3,500lbs of trailer weight.
