Troubleshooting Error With Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller Not Working Without Error Code
Updated 06/10/2021 | Published 06/08/2021 >
Question:
I have a Prodity P2 brake controller. The trailer brakes dont seem to be working. The error code is just a small cinch on the lower right of the controller screen. I have checked the 7-way plug with a tester on my vehicle and it seems to be working fine. I havent checked the magnets on the trailer, it has been functioning well until this last trip out. Any suggestions? Thanks. I did hook up to another trailer and got the same results. I haven't tested the plug on my truck but why would everything else be working fine???

The ".c." on your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 is not an error code but rather is telling you that a trailer is connected and your boost is turned on for the controller. From this is does not appear that there is a problem with the controller.
If the ".c." is always on even when you are not connected to a trailer then it would appear that the blue wire has a short to ground in the wiring. This may be at the connector or virtually anywhere in the wiring harness. The obvious first places to check are going to be at the 7-way and the vehicle connector inside the cab. I would begin with disconnecting the 7-way wiring to see if the ".c." goes away. If not continue to follow the wiring and loosening connections until you are able to get the .c. to become a "n.c." or ". ."
I have included a link to the installation insctructions below that show a list of the different codes and what they are telling you about the controller.
If this does not fix your issue please let me know what is happening when the trailer is disconnected.
