Question:
I have a 2017 f150 ecoboost with only a 4 way trailer plug and I need a 7 way. I have read many articles on the subject but still have a few questions. When connecting the blue brake wire and the black/orange power wires do I just cut them off from the connector they are on and splice them? Also do u need to add any additional fuses or anything like that? Thank you and all the information you can give is very appreciated.

Since your 2017 Ford F-150 EcoBoost has a factory 4-way connector you are correct that you will cut the Blue brake output wire and orange or red 12v power wire from the factory connector by the driver side rear tire and connect them to the # 37185. You will connect the blue wire to blue wire and black wire to the orange or red wire. You will also need to ground the white wire to the frame of your truck.
There are not fuses or anything that will need to be added.
If you are also needing a trailer brake controller I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy p3 # 90195 due to it being an extremely reliable controller. You can install the P3 by using the plug in wiring adapter # 22292 which will plug directly into the factory trailer brake controller port underneath the dash of your truck, and the directly into the # 90195.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
