will the original spur gear 16 tooth work with this rack?

As long as your original spur gears show no signs of damage (i.e. teeth missing or worn) you'll be good to use them with the Replacement Standard Dual Rack Repair Kit for Lippert RV In-Wall Slide-Outs - Fixed Side Item # LC84FR. If you do see damage then you'll need the Replacement Spur Gear for Lippert In-Wall Slide-Outs - 16-Tooth - Qty 1 Item # LC58VR.
While you have the parts all out it's best to check the bearing blocks as well. If either bearing block shows any type of damage that indicates repeated contact with the gear rack, it must be completely removed from the drive assembly and replaced. If damage is evident on either bearing block, both the upper and lower bearing blocks must be replaced. If you see damage you'll need the Lippert Replacement Standard Bearing Block Kit for RV In-Wall Slide-Out # LC379060.
