Question:
I have this controller, my vehicle is a Dodge 2002 1500 with only 4 post trailer lights installed at factory. I would like to wire it to a 7post system for electric brakes and also still have 4 post available. What do I need as far as wiring?

Having the 4 Flat already installed makes getting up to the 7 Way easier. Our Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 will piggyback off your current 4 Flat to power the trailer lights and blinkers. The included wiring and circuit breakers will get everything else for the # 5504 powered and working properly. The 7 Way plug that comes with the # ETBC7 also has a 4 Flat plug on the side so you will not need to use an adapter to connect a trailer with a 4 Flat plug. I included a link to an install we did of the # ETBC7 we did on a 2001 Dodge Ram for you to check out as well.
One potential add on you may consider will be the Hopkins Quick Fix (TM) 4 Pole Flat # 48195. Though this is typically used for the trailer to plug into a vehicle, I have had a few people use it on the back of brake controllers for quick and easy removal if you didn't want to have it hardwired to the vehicle at all times.
