What Discreet Hitch Do You Recommend for My 2017 BMW X3?

Updated 05/16/2021 | Published 05/13/2021

Question:

Trying to decide if a bumper hitch would be enough for my 2017 BMW X3. I dont plan on pulling anything heavy maybe a trailer with 2 kayaks or a bike rack. Looking for something streamlined and descret as I dont want to have anything big and bulky under the bumper. Any recommendations would be appreciated Cheers

For a really discreet look of a trailer hitch on your 2017 BMW X3 that still allows for you to transport a trailer with 2 kayaks or a bike rack, I recommend the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH27VR. As the name implies, the Stealth hitch is the most invisible out of all of our brands. It will give your BMW X3 a stylish look along with your transport accessories. In addition, the Stealth hitch's installation involves a bolt-on process with no drilling required. If you are planning to tow a trailer, you will need to purchase the Stealth Hitches towing kit # SH58VR. The towing kit comes with all of the hardware you need for towing, including a ball mount, wiring harness, and safety chain loops.

For a bike rack for your 2-inch Stealth receiver, I recommend the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack # C18085. The Curt will allow you to transport up to two bikes and has a per-bike weight capacity of 45 pounds. It also includes ratcheting hooks that firmly secure your bikes by the frame.

As for a trailer that can transport 2 kayaks, I recommend the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer with V-Style Carriers for 2 Kayaks # MAL43FR. A great feature of the EcoLight is the two included kayak carriers which eliminate the need to purchase additional kayak carrier mounts. The EcoLight also comes with leaf spring suspension in the back to increase the smoothness of the ride. Also, all of the licensing/registration paperwork comes with the order to make the process headache-free in terms of legality.

If your heart is set on transporting 2 kayaks with the bikes together, it will require a different setup due to the maximum tongue capacity of the Stealth hitch. If you want to pursue this option, I would be happy to assist you.
