Upgrade Pin Box To Minimize Chucking

Updated 04/29/2021 | Published 04/27/2021

Question:

Hello, I have a question regarding the Morryde RPB72-221002300-03 vs the Reese Airborne 5AB-E7920. My 5th wheel has a GVWR of 9000lbs, towing with a 2019 Ram 1500 tow rating of 11240lbs, using the Anderson Ultimate Hitch. We are new to the 5th wheel but the chucking is somewhat unnerving and constantly trying to adjust to minimize the chucking is tiring. looking for opinions on the 2 products to minimalize the chucking.

It is important to first say, chucking can be reduced or minimized, but never totally eliminated. Upgrading from a standard pin box to one of your choices will be a dramatic improvement. I also think the additional connection created by the Andersen hitch does not help, but that is what you have either way.

The MORryde # MR85VR is a "cushioned" pin box that uses a thick rubber pad that will flex mostly front to back and side to side.

The Reese 5AB-E7920 is an "air-cushioned" pin box that also has a shock absorber, however it has been discontinued.

The models you selected work with many flange bolt patterns including the Leland 7920 and 7921. If you have a different bolt pattern just email me for an updated recommendation.
