I have a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek with factory installed roof rack. I have a 10.5ft 60lb kayak I will be loading myself. Any recommendations on the best product to assist, making it as easy as possible? Thanks,

I know just what you are looking for! The most affordable option for a load-assist kayak carrier is going to be the Malone SeaWing Kayak Carrier and Load Assist w/ Tie-Downs - Rear Loading - Clamp On # MPG113MD. This system will simply clamp onto your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek factory crossbars and provide a V-style kayak carrier with load assist. The load assist slides out to the rear of your vehicle and will help you tilt the kayak up and onto the roof. I recommend this option if you don't think lifting one side of the kayak onto the rear of your roof will be an issue for you.

An easier option, although more costly, is the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier and TelosXL Load Assist w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style - Side Loading # MPG114MD-351XL. This system will also clamp onto your factory crossbars but this carrier provides a J-style carrier to haul the kayak on its side. This system also differs from the SeaWing in the fact that it has an actual lift-assist system to reduce the need to lift the kayak onto the roof at all. Basically, you set the kayak on the lift assist arms which will be about waist-height. The ratcheting arms can then be pushed up and you can easily push the kayak onto the J-style carriers on your roof. This is by far the better option in terms of ease of use.
