Recommended Ladder Rack For 2021 Toyota Tundra Crewmax

Question:

i see that this rack is recommended for my new 21 crewmax. However on these newer models there is not stake pocket cap or even a scribed mark indicating a location of a stake pocket to drill/router. Some say that the bed design has changed and there is no stake pocket on this newer model. Looking for a straight answer from toyota and now waiting on them before I order. Have you had experience with 21 tundra crewmax install. thanks in advance

The Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack - 1,250 lbs # TH97RV can only be installed via the stake pockets. If you do not have stake pockets then this will not work. If you have the cutout or something indicating that the bed rail actually does have the pocket underneath the plastic then you could perhaps cut out the plastic, but you will definitely want to verify with Toyota as you mentioned and see what they recommend.

For an alternative solution you could just use a ladder rack that mounts to the inside rail system such as the Rola Haul-Your-Might T3 Truck Bed Ladder Rack - Aluminum - 800 lbs # 59799. This has the integrated top track to allow easy installation of track-mounted accessories. The weight capacity for the 65-1/16" crossbars is 800lbs.
