Question:

I know the product description mentions golf carts, but at about 970 pounds and 2 thirds of the capacity is this viable? Safe? I have read similar reviews of other ramps with 1500 capacity and them failing on the first load with a 1500 rated similar design tri fold ramp.

The CargoSmart Loading Ramp # 3483075 is rated for a maximum weight of 1500lbs when the weight is evenly distributed. Each side would carry 750lbs. If your golf cart is 970lbs without anyone on it that would be 485lbs per side. The drivers weight would be then added to the one side an example 200lb driver plus the 485lbs equals 685lbs. Which is where you will begin to see why it can be possible but I wouldn't recommend it.

For you I recommend the Arched Loading Ramp Set # 288-07432-2. This set is not only double the weight rating but it is also 90" long versus the 77" of the CargoSmart. This means that you won't have as steep of an approach or departure angle making loading and unloading the cart safer since they usually don't have the largest grooves in their tires.
