Question:

I need a rack that can mount on rails that are anchored using the stake pockets, but the height can be adjustable, so I can raise and lower above the cab for a ladder. Any suggestions? I know Thule has the rails but can’t find “telescoping” uprights to go on it. I’ve seen the Yakima uprights that slide down in the bottom of the upright, but have to attach to the inside of the bed rail. Thanks

While we have height-adjustable ladder racks, none of them are compatible with your BAKFlip Tonneau Cover like the BAKFlip MX4 # BAK48410. There is a version of the Yakima OverHaul HD ladder rack works on tonneau covers # Y01151-5855, but the tonneau cover needs to have integrated tracks, which your BAKFlip does not have.

The Thule ladder rack you are referring to is the Thule Xsporter Pro # TH500XTB. This also clamps to the inside of your bed rails which is why it won't work with your BAKFlip. Your next options are the Thule TracRac SR # TH43002XT-610 or the Adarac Pro Series Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack # A4001671. Some prefer the Adarac Pro since it's half the price and also get's the job done. The Thule TracRac SR # TH43002XT-610 can be adjusted back and forth on the rails which allows for further adjustment in crossbar spread which is a feature popular among people carrying loads of different shapes and sizes. With the height of 27-5/16" you should have almost 4 inches of clearance from the top of your bars to the top of your cab roof.
