Where is Axle Rating info On Trailer Axle

Updated 03/29/2021 | Published 03/26/2021

Question:

How do you determine the axle rating and how do I verify that I received the correct axle as the buyer? Is there a label applied to the axle? If so, can you share a picture of that label with me?

On trailer axles there is typically a sticker right in the middle of the axle that has the capacity and dimension info listed. You can see it in the picture I attached. Or if it's a round axle you can get a great idea by just measuring diameter.

Typical Axle Diameters Based on Axle Capacity
- 1,000-lb - 2,000-lb Axles: 1-1/2 inch - 1-3/4 inch diameter
- 3,500-lb Axles: 2-3/8 inch diameter
- 6,000-lb - 7,200-lb Axles: 3 inch diameter
- 8,000-lb Axles: 3-1/2 inch diameter
- 9,000-lb Axles: 4 inch diameter
- 10,000-lb Or more axles: 5 inch diameter
