Choosing Between Tekonsha Prodigy P2 and P3 for Farm Trailer with Electric Brakes
Updated 02/13/2013 | Published 02/10/2013 >
Question:
I have a 2011 Chevrolet pickup and I am looking at the p2 vs the p3. I am pulling a 2 axle trailer for our farm. I am reading the p2 will work with both electric and electric over hydralic brake systems however when I go to order this from your website it keeps asking what type of brakes is on my trailer. I have electric brakes however I would like to have the controller that controlles both. If I purchase the one p2 part#- 90885 for electric brakes will it work for electric over hydraulic as well. Thanks

Both the Prodigy P2 and the P3 are compatible with both electric and electric over hydraulic braking systems.
The primary difference between the P2 and the P3 is that the P3 has what I would call a more user-friendly display that will provide diagnostic information about your braking system at a glance. The P2 also provides diagnostic information, but instead of directly spelling out the nature of the problem, the display will provide an error code that you will need to look up in the user manual.

Either controller would work great for your farm trailer.
