Updated 02/04/2021 | Published 02/01/2021

Question:

Hello, I have a Wildcat Rv with 2 5200 lb Dexter axles, 8 inch bolt pattern. I want to convert to disk brakes. Do you have a complete kit that will work or do I need to buy all the parts separate. Thank you.

We do have a kit that may work on your 5200lb Dexter axles, but since there are a few different bearing combinations for 5200lb axles you will want to confirm which bearings your spindle uses by removing one of your current hubs and checking the bearing number stamped on the face of the bearings as you can see in the included picture of the # L44649.

The only option with the 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern you need is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712E which uses inner bearing # 25580, and outer bearing # 14125A. The bearings, grease seals, grease cap, and lug nuts are not included so you will need the Bearing Kit # DBRKHW7

Next you will need brake lines and an actuator. Starting with brake lines I recommend the HydraStar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Tandem Axle - 25' # HS496-252.

The actuator will depend if you are wanting to do Electric over hydraulic, or just plain hydraulic.

For just hydraulic you will want the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout # T4750820 which will work with 3" wide trailer tongues, and for Electric over hydraulic you will want the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes # HBA16.

Lastly if you prefer the Electric over hydraulic you will also need a break away kit # 20400, and a trailer brake controller that will work with Electric over hydraulic brake systems like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195.

If you find that your spindles use a different combination of bearings, just let me know.

I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
