Can Galvanized Steel E-Track Install on Galvanized Steel Trailer

Hi, I have a 2012 Marathon Linamar utility trailer 7ft x 4ft. Extendable by 1ft. Which is galvanized steel. Would I be able install your etrack and what screws works for galvanized metal?

You can definitely install the galvanized steel e-track on your trailer that has a galvanized steel floor, as really the only potential issues are when installing e-track on dissimilar metals. So you can absolutely install any of the following e-track without issue:

- 3' Long: etrailer Horizontal E-Track - Galvanized Steel # e35VR

- 4' Long: etrailer Horizontal E-Track - Galvanized Steel # e95VR

- 5' Long: etrailer Horizontal E-Track - Galvanized Steel # e45VR

To install the e-track you can use a backing plate, the E-Track Backing Plate # e89RR, and for screws you can use the Snap-Loc E-Track Self-Drilling Metal Screws # SL99FR.

Aluminum is a pretty soft metal. Especially as thin as you mentioned. I wouldn't recommend self tappers for the e-track. Instead I would recommend appropriately sized nuts and bolts on either side of the track with larger washers.

You can use Master Lock #ML389DAT for coupler #CTA-280. Another option is to use a latch lock so that the latch cannot be opened. Most latches, if they can accept a lock, will take a 1/4 diameter pin such as #e98888 or #3008.

The Erickson Horizontal E-Track part #E19148 is zinc plated using a current of electricity, not galvanized with a zinc coating. This will hold true for all of the e-tracks. I called my contact at Erickson Manufacturing just to be certain.

Your plan of having an e-track like the part #E19148 attached to two different floor boards in your trailer would be perfect. This will distribute any weight on the e-track to two boards which is a sturdier way to go about it.

You'd want to use a backing plate like part #e96RR when installing the e-track like the part #E19148 and there isn't a crossmember you can attach to.
