Good question, and the 4" x 8" measurement is referring to the opening of the Undampered RV Floor Register; the total length of the register is approximately 5-1/2" x 9-1/2". The 4" x 8" undampered register does come in your choice of three different colors:
- Black: Undampered RV Floor Register # 37202-29165
- White: Undampered RV Floor Register # 37202-28945
- Brown: Undampered RV Floor Register # 37202-28955
