Question:
Hello. My question is why there is a 50# min weight load. My load will be close to this lower limit How will it affect the brake function. I will be lifting a fiberglass cover off a car to hang from the garage rafters. Part # PSKR - 0301 D @ L 1,000 lb. Thanks

The minimum 50lb weight load on the Pro Series Standard Brake Winch - Cable Only - 1,000 lbs Item # PSKR10000301 is required for the brake function to work properly. This is set by the manufacturer. If there is not a minimum of 50lbs then the brake feature on the winch may not engage. The 50lbs of pressure is what activates the brake feature. If you are concerned that you may be too close, you can always add some kind of weight down near the hook. This winch is also designed only to be used with a cable. I recommend Fulton Galvanized Winch Cable with Hook - 50' x 7/32" - 5,600 lbs Item # FWC7500100
