Question:

I just recently bought a new mountain bike and looking for the best way to haul it to the trails. I just received a trunk rack however I am not as comfortable with it as I though I would be. One Im freaked out that it might cause a scratch and two its a huge pain taking off and putting it back on. However I am a bit cheap and wanting to have the best bang for the buck while still providing a safe and reliable way to haul my bike.

The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack # S64650 sounds exactly like what you're looking for! This is a great bike rack since you get the platform-style benefits of safety and ease of use at a very good price point. It also has a slight shank rise which will help with ground clearance on your Tesla. Attached below is my video review if you want to check it out.

To use this bike rack, you will need a hitch. For your more affordable hitches, you have two options: Class 1 1-/4: Hitch # C52VR or Class III 2" Hitch # C45FR. The main difference are their classes and hitch receiver sizes. I always recommend the Class III, since the Class I comes with 2-bike max limitations. If you ever want to carry more bikes on your car, they usually only work with 2" hitches. It's up to you, especially since the Swagman XC # S64650 can fit both hitch sizes. If you only plan to use that bike rack though, then the 1-1/4 hitch will be fine.

We do not yet have an install video for the Curt hitches, but we have one for a Stealth hitch which is a similar process. I attached that video if you want to follow along.
