How Much Space Between Roof and Crossbar Is Needed for the Rhino-Rack Universal Pioneer Rack

Question:

I have factory rails on a 19 Golf Alltrack with 2 Yakima Railbar crossbars. Theyre very low profile, almost too low. The gap between the crossbar and the roof is only 1.25. What are the measurements of the Pioneer Platform clamps, or more specifically what is the measurement of the bottom jaw of the clamp? Im not opposed to ditching the Railbars for a better alternative. Ultimately, my roof rack is used to carry either 2 paddleboards or 2 kayaks, or building material such as studs/planks/trim panels but never 8x4foot boards. From my previous vehicle, I already own 2 Yakima CoreBars and a pair of Yakima SupPups. The SupPups actually worked great for locking wood into place quickly, although they do not have enough clearance to work with the RailBar. Thanks for your suggestions!

The bottom clamp on the Rhino-Rack Universal Pioneer Platform Rack part # RR42115BF is 7/8" tall so you will need at least this much space but ideally 1"-1-1/4" would be good so it sounds like this will work for you. I had our staff measure the bottom clamp just for you as Rhino Rack did not have this info.
