I reached out to Malone directly and the bunks which run from to back and support the kayak on the Malone WideTrakS # MPG521-S are 24" long.

How wide are the support bars I'm wanting to use this for a paddle boat which will need them 27" apart

The arms can be spaced 6", 9", and 12" apart for varying boat widths (see attached link). Something like the Malone ClipperTRX-S Deluxe # MAL78FR might work better for your application, but those rubber pieces measure 12" edge to edge as well so it kind of depends on the style of the bottom of your paddle boat.
