Fit of Yakima Holdup Bike Carrier on 2006 Toyota Avalon With Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 11427
Updated 12/12/2012 | Published 12/11/2012 >
Question:
What is the distance from the hitch pin to the outside of the bumper using the CURT Trailer Hitch #11427? And how much clearance will I have when the Yakima Holdup bike rack is folded up? Does anyone make a class 2 hitch for this car? Best regards.

I do not have a measurement of the distance from the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver with Drawbar - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4 inch, part # 11427, when mounted on a 2006 Toyota Avalon.
However I did measure the hitch itself. The distance from the end of the receiver to the most-forward mounting hole center (the hole at the narrowest tip of the mounting bracket) is 19-1/4 inches. If you measure from the center of this most-forward hitch mounting hole on your Avalon back 19-1/4 inches you will know where the end of the receiver will be relative to your bumper. The distance from this same most-forward mounting hole to the center of the hitch pin hole will be 2 inches less, 17-1/4. I have included a generic drawing to show this measurement.
I am not sure which Yakima Holdup Carrier you have, a 2-bike or 4-bike version. Please note that the 2-bike carrier, part Y02420, is rated as Class II only and should not be used in a Class I hitch. When in the folded position the clearance between the hitch pin hole and the nearest bike tray is 6 inches for the Yakima StickUp 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack and 7 inches for the Yakima Holdup 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack.
Please note that neither carrier is to be used with hitch extenders. We show only Class I hitch receivers approved for fit on your Avalon.
