Question:
Will this hitch fit 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Rocky Mountain Edition

Expert Reply:
The only 2” hitch that is specifically confirmed to fit a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Rocky Mountain Edition is the Draw-Tite # 75338 Max-Frame Hitch Receiver. There is also a 1-1/4” receiver (Draw-Tite # 36362 ) but it does not offer the same towing capacities, and a 2” receiver will be more rigid when using bike or cargo mounts. It is important to note that this hitch is not compatible with a factory installed rear tow hook – it will need to be permanently removed if present. I have included product links and install videos.
If you plan on towing a small trailer you will need a trailer wiring harness. If your Jeep is factory prewired for a tow system you will want the Tekonsha # 118381 4-pole Connector Assembly. This will hook up quickly and provide without any wire cutting or splicing. I have included a link to this product and a review video.
If your Jeep is not prewired you can use the Hopkins # HM42545 Wiring Harness. This will give you a 4-pole connection and is easy to install with no wiring cutting or splicing. This kit includes all the parts you will need including a converter to isolate your vehicle electrical system from the two vehicle. I have included product links and video reviews.
If you need to tow a trailer with electric brakes please email me back for more upgrade options.
