Question:
Can you use a 2 inch ball on a class #1 trailer hitgh?

You can use a 2 inch ball with a Class I trailer hitch. The ball shank has to have the proper dimensions to fit the correct ball mount for the hitch. On Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24794, the correct ball mount is # 3594 and for a 2 inch ball you would use # 19258. Even though this ball is rated for 3,500 pounds, you are still limited by the capacity of the hitch (2,000 pounds) or the vehicle (check owners manual) whichever is lower. You will also need pin and clip # PC2.
On a Class I hitch you must use the ball mount indicated by the hitch manufacturer because it has been tested with the hitch and has the correct rise or drop for that given vehicle. The ball mount for hitch 24794 can only be used in the rise position. I have included some links that should also help.
For trailer wiring on a 2008 Nissan Sentra use # 118470.
