Question:
When you press the brake pedal only one red led lights up. Is this normal? If not then what do we need to do to correct it?

It sounds like your Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller # C51170 is working properly. You are not getting an error code, but the number of red lights should increase as more brake power is asserted. The actual number of red lights that appear depends on how you have tuned the controller and it may depend on the inertia as well because it is a proportional controller. If you need more braking pressure then simply adjust the setting. I've attached the installation instructions to assist an have added a review video to assist as well.
