Question:
The rocker switch wiring harness has a small red wire that is to be hooked to the ignition switch. The ignition switch has about 5 wires which one do you hook to. Or Can you hook the red wire directly to the battery with an inline fuse. If you can what size fuse do you recommend. I am installing it on a 2002 honda rubicon 500 cc

When installing the rocker switch wiring harness, you need to use a wire that goes hot when the ignition switch is turned on. On my Polaris I used the wire that came from the accessory (cigarette lighter) plug because it is only hot when the key is turned on, this may be the case for you also. If not, you will need to use a circuit tester, part # PTW2993, if you need one, to determine which wire goes hot when the key is on. The reason for the wire being connected to the ignition is so that the power is interrupted when the vehicle is off, and the winch cannot cause a draw on the battery leaving you with a dead battery. The fuse option would work but would not keep the battery from being drained. Normally the battery would not be drained but if the switch was wedged on or shorted or the solenoid went bad the battery would go dead in short order.
