Troubleshooting Lippert Electric Stabilizer Jacks Not Lowering

Updated 09/08/2025 | Published 09/24/2020

Question:

My 2014 5th Wheel Trailer has Lippert stabilizer jacks on the back. The motor runs but the screw which lowers and raises the jacks is not turning. There is a collar that is lose on the screw should it be tight? Maybe missing the set screw?

The collar being loose on your stabilizer jack may be the issue as that is part of the motor assembly. The motor directly connects to the threaded rod so with that being loose it may have broken off and disconnected from the threaded rod. I recommend removing the motor, and checking it for correct function. If the motor collar or shaft has broken and needs replacing, you can use the Replacement Electric RV Stabilizer Jack Motor for Lippert Components Landing Gear - Rear # LC352338. If the motor is okay, the threaded shaft may have broken and if that is the case then replacing the entire unit is your only option. You can use # LC298707 for the unit with a black switch or # LC369774 for the unit with a white switch.

I am not able to troubleshoot in the field. Is there a way to manually retract the landing gear?

@GlenP Sorry to hear you're having issues with your jack, Glen. You can in fact manually retract the landing gear. You would need to get the Manual Crank Handle for Lippert 5th Wheel RV Landing Gear part # LC119226. The spot where this goes would be on the opposite of the motor. It would be a shaft with 2 pins.
