Will 50 Thule SquareBar Roof Rack Fit on 2016 Fiesta ST Hatchback

Question:

The search result says the Fiesta ST hatchback model can only use TH712200 which is 47. However the non-ST hatchback model can use TH712300 which is 50. The roof of the ST vs. non-ST are essentially same aside from the spoiler and may be the antenna, so i wonder why the ST cant fit the wider bar. I need the wider bar for my Fiesta ST as my cargo is wide, do you think there will be issues if I get the TH712300 instead?. Thanks.

Great question! So I called my friends at Thule and they verified that the Thule SquareBar Evo 47" Crossbars # TH712200 are fitted for use on the ST because that trim is actually slightly sleeker. The clamp kit is the same for the ST and the non-ST, but when they clamp onto their respective Ford Fiesta trims, a different angle results.

The 47" square crossbars are at the perfect angle to fit onto the clamps on the Ford Fiesta ST. The possible issue with using the Thule SquareBar # TH712300 50" crossbars on your Fiesta ST is that the slots underneath the bars might extend just barely past the clamps. It's only 3" longer, so it still might work, but the possibility is still something to consider. I have seen someone use a power tool to make the slots longer, but that is not a recommended option as it will void the warranty with Thule.
