What makes this for use on trailers less than 80 inches wide

Trailers that are over 80 inches in width have more lighting requirements than ones that are less wide than that. The typical application of the Miro-Flex LED Trailer Tail Light # STL23CCRB that you referenced is trailers that are narrower than 80 inches in width but there's no law that states it couldn't be used on a wider trailer.
