Question:
I noticed there was a change in verbiage on the instruction sheet from E90 to E92. I know for a fact the E92 and E90 have separate part numbers and obvious visual differences in their respective rear bumper carriers. They must measure out the same distance in bolt attachments. I will also let you know the E92 carrier is much more rigid and is designed to aid in vehicle stiffness whereas the E90 carrier is no such design. E92 carrier is made mostly from a fiberglass/plastic E90 is steel. I’m prepared to order the hitch. I’m sure etrailer has done more research than me. I just have a lingering doubt your hitch Item # SH97VR is meant to attach to E92 M3. I know it is confusing but here is a summary of BMW M3 chassis codes: E90-sedan; E92-coupe; E93-convertible. E92 and E93 share the same part number Thanks for looking into this for me.

For your 2008 BMW M3, you will want the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # SH97VR for a bike rack or accessory. If you want to do light towing as well you will instead use the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit - Custom Fit - 2" # SH73VR.
