Can Swagman XTC-2 Bike Platform Rack be Used for Travel trailer
Updated 07/29/2020 | Published 07/27/2020 >
Question:
I have an rpod-179 with a 1 1/4” receiver hitch on the back. My camper dealership recommended the Swagman XTC-2 rack for carrying bikes on the back. I see from your descriptions that it is recommended for RVs. Is there an issue with using the rack on a travel trailer? If it is a problem, do you have a recommendation for a 1 1/4” receiver hitch bike rack that can be used on a travel trailer?

I do have a solution for your, but the problem that you're running into is that only certain bike racks have been approved to hold up to the extra movement that you get at the back of a travel trailer. While the Swagman XTC-2 # S64671 isn't rated for a travel trailer, there are no other bike racks that have a 1-1/4" shank and are rated for this use either so no matter what you go with the warranty will be voided by this use.
For your application I recommend going with the Jack-It 2 Bike Rack for A-Frame Trailers # LC429756 because it installs at the tongue of your trailer and is designed for use on a travel trailer.
