LED Does Not Change Color and Trailer Brakes Only Work with Manual Override on Voyager Brake Control

Question:

Brakes on trailer work manually,but dont seem to be working when brake pedal is applied. I have checked for power at the connection point where trailer pulgs into the truck at the electric brake pin, when the brake is applied I have power here, but no trailer brakes. I have the greeen LED but no other changes in color. I have a 2002 F250 with the tow package. A harness was used from the brake controller to the factory truck harness. I was thinking maybe the problem is at the trailer but with no change in color on the LED has me puzzeled.

The first thing I would check is the leveling knob on the controller and also make sure it is mounted within the ranges specified in the instructions (linked for you). If either of these are off then the brakes will work with the manual override but not the brake pedal necessarily). This would also explain the LED not changing color.

Once you have it leveled and mounted correctly test again. If that does not solve the issue check the power output on the red wire when you step on the brakes. If there is no signal then the stop light fuse could be blown or the connection needs to be re-established. Since the 2002 Ford F-250 has a plug-in harness on the truck, it probably is not the red wire connection but it could still be the stop light fuse.
