Question:

I have a 2018 BMW X3 M40i. Using your site, the recommendation among a few is to purchase a 47inch Thule Wingbar Evo. However, when I go to Thule, they recommend the 50. Which is correct? I might assume both fit and that one overhangs a bit more but Id like to understand more clearly before purchase. Bike racks... If I purchase the Thule Wingbar Evo whichever size what are my choices for bike carriers, specifically Thule? Id also like to know if theres specific pros/cons for carrier types fork, frame, wheels. I will be carrying three bicycles 2 adults and 1 child bike. Thank you.

The Thule WingBar Evo Crossbar System part # TH711220, part # TH710601, and part # TH186007 which is a fit for a 2018 BMW X3 contains 47" long aero crossabrs which are the recommend size for this vehicle according to Thule. This can then be used with any brand of bike rack so long as they are compatible with aero style crossbars.

In regards to choosing between the different types of bike racks (fork mount, frame mount, wheel mount etc.) the best option really comes down to bike type (fenders, cargo frame, etc.). I have attached a full list of options below but the Thule ProRide XT Roof Bike Rack part # TH598004 is my favorite.
