Question:
width needed to mount the arms?

There isn't a specific width needed to mount the Solera XL Power Awning Support Arms for RVs # LC362241.
The measurements you need to ensure you have for the arms is 78" straight down from the awning rail and 4-1/2" between the awning rail and top of your entry door.
The width you need is for the roller assembly, such as the 12' wide Solera XL Power Awning Roller Assembly # LCV000334919.
I have added a link to our entire selection of power roller assemblies, which range from 11' to 21' wide.
