The Air Lift Ride Control Air Helper Springs, # AL59537, is a complete kit for your 2001 Toyota Tacoma, however, some drilling will be necessary. If you haul heavy loads with your truck, then it is recommended to install a spacer on the jounce bumper strike plate. The spacer is provided, but you will need to drill a 3/8 inch hole in the jounce bumper strike plate to install the spacer.
You will also have to drill into the sides of the frame rail to install the upper bracket. There will be five holes in the upper bracket, but you will only need to drill three of them using the upper bracket as a template. For this you will need a 5/8 inch drill bit. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for you to check out. They include pictures of each step as well.
The only thing that is not included with this kit is a compressor system. A compressor system is not necessary. Many customers run the air lines to the rear bumper and install the air valves so they can be easily adjusted using any compressor. If you wanted to add a compressor kit, then you could install the Air Lift Load Controller II Compressor System, # AL25592. This includes an in cab gauge that allows you to adjust the pressure without getting out of the truck. The system will also restore air pressure automatically when it is too low.
A final item that you may find useful, but is not necessary is an air hose cutter like part # AL10530. You will want to make sure the hoses have a clean round cut. You could also use a sharp razor blade or box cutter, but you do not want to flatten the ends of the hoses. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for the compressor system for you to check out as well.
