Is Added Wiring Needed to Install Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller on 2018 Audi Q7 With 7-Way

Question:
I want to attach a Tekonsha P3 to a 2018 Audi Q7 for a 2-axle trailer with electric brakes. The Audi has a tow package factory installed, including the 7-pin coupler on the back. Do I need any additional dealer work to be able to attach the brake controller, or does the Audi already have all that is needed for me to install the brake controller?

Expert Reply:
Even with the factory 7-way, your 2018 Audi Q7 does need additional wiring from the Audi dealer to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.
You will need a quantity of one of the 1J0-972-782 housing and a quantity of two of the 000-979-228 wire/terminal assemblies. I have added a link to the tech bulletin for you.

I wired my p3 with the relay following the service bulletin for a VW Touareg and when I plugged in the controller without the engine running, I got a CAUTION POWER LOSS Verify Brakes message. When I tested the controller wires, the red and black are hot, the white is ground and the blue is dead. Is this correct or did I wire the relay wrong.
