Is There an Alternative to Connecting a T-One Trailer Wiring Harness to 2020 VW Tiguan Battery?

Question:

Is it possible to connect the electronic module to a separate 12V battery instead of the Tiguans Battery? This would allow me to not route the wire all the way to the front of the vehicle. Would it work? How much power does the module draw? Does the battery power the lights or just the module? Thanks.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118811 should be connected directly to the vehicle battery. This protects your vehicle wiring and it make sure you don't end up with a blown fuse or short circuit. The module draws 7.5 amps per circuit for the tail lights and 5 amps per circuit for stop/turn lights.

The battery powers the module which in turn powers the trailer lights. It keeps the module and trailer from drawing power from the vehicle turn/stop and running light circuits versus just capturing signal from them.
