Question:

I am looking for some help determining what would be a comparable replacement for Shelby P/N 5352-81Z. Shelby, the company has gone out of business, and I noticed that there is an article on your website recommending the Dutton Lainson P/N DL14996. I am looking for an exact comparable replacement for this Shelby winch, and I have technical characteristics to further help determine which winch would be the most comparable. This should be a hand operated, single head, crank, mechanical, grooved, and rated for 1,500 LBS.

I would be happy to give you a recommendation to replace your Shelby 5352 winch, and can understand wanting an exact replacement, but that is an impossibility due to the fact Shelby is out of business. Manufacturers don't make exact replicas of winches, so the best we can offer is a high-quality 1,500 lb hand winch.

I do agree with my colleague that a great option for a replacement is the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch with Automatic Brake # DL14996.

The automatic brake is a really nice feature for a winch, and this can also use a strap or cable, the Hand Winch Strap with Safety Hook # DL24249 or Hand Winch Cable with Safety Hook # DL24104.
