On a BCDC1240D what gauge of wire is the trigger wire used to hook up the ignition circuit to turn on and off the charger

It depends on how far away from the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger part # 331-BCDC1240D, it will most likely be within 3-16 feet so you will need 6 gauge wire but you can use 4 gauge if the distance is over 16 feet between the charger and the ignition switch.
