Will the Curt Hitch for a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Work With Full Size Spare Tire
Updated 04/17/2020 | Published 04/16/2020 >
Question:
I’m looking at purchasing this hitch and wiring harness. However, I ran across a comment from someone that their full size spare tire was in the way of this hitch once hitch was installed yet all the other comments that I see mention it’s a flawless installation. He had the same year, make, model and tire size as me. Have you heard of any clearance issues with this? It’s for a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7L engine OEM full size spare Goodyear Fortera tire Your advice would be appreciated. Thank you,

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13251 which is a fit for a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee will work on models with the full size spare wheel/tire without issue. That said, you may need to lower the spare tire just a bit to get the hitch up into position then you can raise the factory spare wheel/tire back up into its original location without issue.
If you will be towing a trailer then you'll also need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118425 and the etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900.
