Can this fixture be mounted with the light shining down since the glass shade is not removable?

Yes, the Gustafson RV Sidewall Light part # 277-000254 can be mounted upside down since the glass is not removable. The shade is designed to be secure to handle the extra bumps and shaking that RV's experience when going down the road. This light does not come with a bracket or mounting hardware. It utilizes the existing bracket of your lights. The mounting holes of the Gustafson RV Sidewall light are 2-1/2" apart center to center so you do want to compare that measurement to your existing bracket.
