i have a 2013 gmc sierra and wanting to put a brake controller in the truck i have been looking for the wire under the hood to hook up power but the wire is not there. how do i put wire in to controller to make it work

The brake controller power wire on a 2013 GMC Sierra is located directly to the right of the power distribution box, taped to a wire harness between the driver-side front fender and the power distribution box. Once this is found, you will need to cut it free from the harness and then attach this to the M6 stud on the power distribution box with part # 185916. I have attached a photo for you as well which explains/shows this.
The Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller part # HM47295 that you were looking at would then hardwire into the pre-run wires directly below the driver dash.
