Question:
If these are installed on the roof, can you walk on them for basic roof maintenance? Can you wash them with normal roof cleaner?

Expert Reply:
It is not recommended to walk on the solar panels when they are installed on your roof. In the installations we typically do here we like to leave some space for folks to walk through should they need to get to different items on the roof. As far as cleaning goes you can use any mild detergent type of soap to clean them on a regular basis. I would stay well away from any harsh chemicals or anything that has any type of abrasive properties. I recommend after doing your wash stage that just like the windows that you use a soft cloth with a gentle cleaner to ensure you get off any residual water to prevent spotting which would lower the effectiveness of your panels.
