For a 1979 Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup I do have a hitch solution for you. While the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13900 is not a fit, you have multiple options to choose from depending what model you have.
For a 6' or 8' bed with standard bumper # C14082 is what you're looking for while for the deep drop bumper # C13099 is instead the correct hitch.
For the cab and chassis model, the Curt # 13028 would then be your choice.
Included is a Help Article on this topic to refer to as well.
