I would first check for a switch just inside the door of your coach. In most cases there is a switch on the step system to shut it down so it doesn't move in and out( labeled Entry Step). There will be an override there that allows it to operate when the vehicle is started so if you didn't pull them back in they will retract automatically. This can also deploy the steps when the door is opened overriding the switch.
Another cause can be that the main 12V supply switch is turned off and that the steps aren't getting the power they need to operate when the coach is not running. This switch is often located right in that same area as the step switch. If you don't see it there check your coach's manual and it will indicate where it is located.
If both of these switches are in the correct position and you are still experiencing this issue please let me know and I will do what I can to get it resolved for you.

hi randy the steps on my Fleetwood are working funnily when I turn off the ignition switch and open the door to get out, the steps go out, but when I close the door they stay out, as soon as I open the ignition switch with the door closed, they retract, I had to disconnect the retraction arm from the motor so I can get the steps closed manually, any idea on why is this happening and how can I fix it thank you for your help!
