Can Both Electric and Manual Pop & Lock Tailgate Locks Be Installed At Same Time on 2004 Silverado

Updated 01/27/2020 | Published 01/25/2020

Question:

I have a 2004 Silverado and I was wondering if you could install both the electric and the manual PAL1100 pop and locks. And if you could would they work together so you could lock or unlock with fob or key, or if you lock with the key would you have to unlock with key and if you lock with fob you would have to unlock with fob? Thank You

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Power Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8110 and the Manual # PAL1100 won't both be able to install at the same time on your 2004 Chevy Silverado. They are going to require the same mounting space on the tailgate and wouldn't be compatible with each other in terms of function.

Since you can only choose one of the locking systems on your truck I recommend going with the Power # PAL8110. This is just going to allow for a much simpler operation since you can lock/unlock the tailgate with the factory power door locks on the Silverado. This eliminates the need to carry around a separate key as well.

I have attached the written install instructions below that you can also check out.
