Question:

We have a dual recliner w/ a center console in our 2018 Jayco Pinnacle 5th wheel. The right side as youre seated will no longer recline. Other functions are working. When I push the Open or Close button, I can hear a clicking sound, but the chair wont open. Id like to test the controller, but because I cant get the chair open, Im unable to get to the controller. Suggestions? Please keep in mind that this chair is bolted to the floor of our RV, and its almost impossible to get behind it.

I'll start off by saying that the Replacement Cup Holder # 195-387597 is designed for the Momentum series recliners and will not control the opening and closing of your Seismic series sofa seating. Unfortunately we do not have an available cup holder replacement for the Thomas Payne Seismic Power Reclining Sofa. But there are some things we can try to get your sofa back in working order.

Lippert, who manufacture the Thomas Payne sofas recommend first unplugging the units and letting them sit for about 10 minutes to reset; it's possible that performing this simple task could get everything back operational. If there is any way to examine the wiring under the seats to make sure that none of the wires are pinched, I would also check that to make sure that a pinched wire isn't the reason for this malfunction.

The other thing you could try is to swap the cup holders and see if any of the functionality changes on the chairs. If the right hand chair suddenly becomes operational, you know that the cup holder controls are bad on one side.

If you can go through these two steps and still not get your recliner operational, you'll likely need to unbolt the chairs to see if you can test the control box for continuity. If you determine that the control box is bad, you can replace the control box on your Thomas Payne Seismic series chairs with the Replacement Power Control Box for Thomas Payne Seismic Recliners and Sofas # LC36FR.
