What Size Drain Hole Does JR Products Shower Strainer 3729495-211-022 Fit

Question:
I am confused by the size/diameter. Is it the pipe size, or the hole in the tub? It is difficult to get access to the pipe, so please HELP! Thanks

The Shower Strainer w/ Grid for 2" Drain part # 3729495-211-022 fits drain hole openings up to 2" diameter. The drain hole is the hole in the tub or shower, not the pipe size. I have attached a video for your reference.
