Question:

My ladder rack recently broke and I need a new one. I currently have a 2014 F150 Crew Cab EcoBoost with a 5.5foot cargo box. I wont be getting a new truck until next year and it will either be a 2019 F150 or a 2020 F150, also with a 5.5foot cargo box. My current truck does not have a tonneau cover, but the next one will. What would you recommend for a new ladder rack that will fit my current truck, but can be removed and installed on the new truck? The tonneau cover on the new truck would be purchased next year as well so what would my options be for a tonneau cover as well?

I recommend to use the Adarac Pro Series Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack part # A4000964 on the 2014 Ford F-150 5-1/2 ft bed. The Adarac Ladder Rack also fits the 2019-2020 Ford F-150 so you can switch it over when you get a new truck. This ladder rack is your best option because it mounts on top of the bed rails so if you get a tonneau cover for the new truck that fits inside the bed rails there will not be any interference.

When you get the new truck, I recommend to use the BAK Revolver X2 Hard Tonneau Cover - Roll Up - Aluminum and Vinyl part # BAK39329 with the ladder rack. The Revolver is low profile, is made of both soft and UV-resistant material and aluminum for durability. The roll up cover also won't interfere with the ladder rack like fold up covers do. You basically get the convenience of a roll up cover with the strength of a fold up aluminum cover. I have attached a video of this as well for your reference. This cover fits 2015 - 2020 Ford F-150 5-1/2 Foot Bed.
