Question:
On my 2012 F-150 I have a 7 pin and a 4 pin connector. I want to connect a tailgate light bar and the trailer at the same time. Can I use the 4 pin for the light bar AND use and adapter 7 pin to 4 pin for the trailer? The idea is to have both working at the same time.

Yes, you can definitely do that. I have attached a link to our selection of LED light strips that are compatible with the tailgate on your 2012 Ford F-150, like the popular Pilot Bully Fie Strip # BLS-1103, and then you can use an adapter like the Pollak # PK12716 for your trailer.
The only time that this should be an issue is if your trailer has a LOT of lights, but since these strips are all LED and don't pull much power I don't see why you'd have any problems.
If you wanted to eventually put the tailgate lights on a different circuit you could use something like the Tekonsha Wiring # 18252 and connect this to the wiring for your tail lights.
